about

All of the songs on the LOVE EP reflect on various stages of the same relationship. It was an on again off again kind of thing. “Do You See Me?” came in the midst of a Ross-and-Rachel-type break. We weren’t really together again, buuuuut we were toeing that line. In “Do You See Me”, I found myself just calling things as I saw them…maybe giving my ex a little nudge to say, “hey! I see you, and…?”

lyrics

Nobody does it better
Nobody could keep you around
You shed me just like a sweater
Where you left me is where I’m found

Every time we say goodbye
You can see it in my eyes

You’re getting a little too close now,
close, close for comfort
It’s getting a little too good now,
good, good to me
Take a look in the mirror,
mirror, mirror, darling
Go ahead now, and tell me what do you see?

Lately you’re picking girlfriends
That kinda look like me
Why do you waste your time, love?
When you could have the real thing

Every time we say goodbye
You can see it in my eyes

You’re getting a little too close now,
close, close for comfort
It’s getting a little too good now,
good, good to me
Take a look at your past now
now, now at your future
Go ahead babe, and tell me what do you see?

Do you see me? Do you see me?
Do you see me? Oh baby, do you see me?

I hope you feel me, I hope you know
And if you feel me, just let it show

You’re getting a little too close now,
close, close for comfort
It’s getting a little too good now,
good, good to me
Take a look at your past now
now, now at your future
Oh darling, do you see me?

Do you see me? Do you see me?
Do you see me? Oh baby…

Nobody does it better
That’s why I keep you around.
